Can e-waste go circular?

October 14, 2020

With Europe being an increasingly digitised society and now hosting sixty thousand data centres - a number expected to grow by 300% by 2025 - e-waste has become a pressing challenge. How can the data centre industry (DCI) minimise its environmental impact?

Dr Deborah Andrews from London South Bank University addressed this challenging question in a thirty-minute session within the 18th European Week Regions and Cities.

Through its three pilots activities in France, the Netherlands and the UK, the CEDaCI project develops circularity solutions to extend product life through equipment reuse and remanufacture, reduces the use of virgin materials, waste and environmental impact arising from the growth in redundant equipment.
